Basic Information:

Simona is a 23 year-old Romanian girl from Deva, a town in the central part of Romania. She graduated from the Faculty of Polytechnics, majoring in Civil Engineering. She studies for a Masters Degree now, specialising in Construction. She has tried to get a job, but couldn’t find one and now she wants to start again in the UK.

She wants to be an au pair because she likes children and she knows many things about being an au pair from her sister (placed by our agency). She also wants to know England and to discover many things that teachers taught her about different buildings in the UK. She will be available from 15th February (she wants to pass her exams in January).

Simona likes photography, reading, dancing, socialising with friends, walking, surfing the web and going to the cinema. She also likes looking after pets.

She is a non smoker.

Childcare Experience:

During the summer holidays she helped her Grandmother looking after her cousin. Her cousin was also visiting his Grandmother during the summer holiday and has to make sure that he doesn’t fall when he is playing or to make sure he doesn’t run in the street. She has heard many things about being an au pair from her sister and she thinks she will be able to look after children as long as they are not young babies.

English Skills:

Simona’s English was good and we had an interesting conversation.

Her native language is Romanian. She also speaks Spanish (medium level) and French (beginner).

Housework:

Simona is prepared to care for babies and children, to undertake light housework (tidying/ vacuuming/ dusting), ironing, shopping (food/groceries), driving and caring for pets.

Character:

Simona describes herself as sociable, funny, neat and tidy, talkative, independent, motivated, responsible and hard working. She sas that she is shy, but only until she gets to know the other person.

Eating:

Simona likes eating almost everything. She likes sweets a lot. She doesn’t like fish.

Driving:

Simona passed her driving test in 2006. She doesn’t drive too often, but thinks that if she will get 2 or 3 hours with a driving instructor, to get used to driving on the other side of the road, she won’t have any problems.

Family:

Her Father (56 years old) works as an electrician; her Mum (52 years old) is a worker in a factory. She has a sister who works as an au pair in England (Derbyshire). Simona has been living in Timisoara in the students’ campus.
