Roxana G - 25 years old

Basic Information:

Roxana is a 25 year-old Romanian girl from Bistrita, but she is currently living in Cluj Napoca, a city in the central part of Romania. She started the University of American Studies, but finished only the second year as she couldn’t afford to pay the fees. She worked as an office manager for the Youth Action For Peace Romania, but she had to quit in January as her schedule was too long and she couldn’t attend her classes.

She wants to be an au pair because she likes children and thinks that she is friendly. She also wants to be able to go back to Romania in 1 or 2 years time and to continue her studies.

Roxana enjoys reading (poetry, novels) and listening to music. She writes poems in her free time so she considers herself as an artistic girl. She also likes to go for a walk daily, aerobics and horse riding.

She is a non smoker.

Childcare Experience:

Roxana looked after her siblings when they were younger. She lives with them in an apartment now and being the oldest one she does all the house chores and the cooking. She had to look after them every time their parents were away or working. She cooked for them, helped them with their homework and played with them. She also looked after her cousins occasionally. During the holidays she went back to her home town and helped some children teaching them English. She tried to encourage them to learn English and tried to teach it in a funny way (she made little drawing cards and different games). She also helped some teachers supervising a group of children when they were on a trip. She has been working as an au pair in the UK since May 2010; she looked after 4 children aged 7, 3, 2 and 1 and after a 3 year old brother and his 7 year old sister.

English Skills:

Her English is fluent and she will have no problems in communicating with the host family. Her University was entirely in English (she has studied English for 6 years).

Other languages:

Her native language is Romanian. She said that speaking foreign languages is one of her skills so she speaks well French, Spanish and Hungarian. She also speaks Italian, Russian and Japanese at a medium level.

Housework:

Roxana is prepared to undertake light housework (tidying/ vacuuming/ dusting), laundry, shopping (food/grocery), cooking for children, care for children and older children and caring for pets.

Character:

Roxana considers that she is very organized, neat & tidy, warm hearted, caring, polite, sociable though quiet. She prefers spending her free time reading or walking as she doesn't like clubbing. She would like to attend English classes (and other languages) and make some voluntary work (if she will have the time to do it).

Eating Preferences:

Roxana likes meat a lot, especially fish, chicken and sea food. She doesn’t like sheep meat at all.

Driving:

Roxana has not taken her driving test.

Family:

She lives with her siblings in Cluj Napoca. They live in a rented apartment and they are all students. Her sister is a student in the third year at the University of Design and Arts. Her brother is a student in the second year at the Faculty of Automatics and Computers. Her parents live in another town. Her Father is a truck driver and her Mum stays at home because of her medical condition.
