Basic Information:

Raluca is a 25 year-old Romanian girl from Alba Iulia, a town in the central part of Romania. She graduated from the Faculty of Economic Science last year. She is now studying for a Masters degree in Economics and in February will have her final exams. She worked as an accountant for 3 years, but wasn’t paid enough to afford to pay her rent.

She wants to be an au pair because she likes children. She has experience with them and thinks that this will be a new beginning for her. She also wants to improve her English because her long term career plan is to be an accountant. Because her boyfriend lives in London, she would like to be placed in London or somewhere around it. She will be available starting from February 2010.

Raluca likes walking, reading and surfing the web. She also likes practising sports like: ice skating, volleyball and basketball).

She is a non smoker.

Childcare Experience:

During university she was a babysitter for a 4 year old girl and a 5 year old boy. She worked for the family for 5 or 6 hours a day. In the mornings she prepared breakfast for the kids and then she took them to the kindergarten. She had the day off until she had to pick them up from the kindergarten. She played with them or took them in the park if the weather was fine until their parents came back from work. She did this for one year in 2004 and another year in 2006. She would like to work with children over 3 years old because she doesn’t have experience with younger children.

English Skills:

Raluca’s English was good and we had an interesting conversation.

Other languages:

Her native language is Romanian. She also speaks French (beginner).

Housework:

Raluca is prepared to care for babies, children and children with disabilities, to undertake light housework (tidying/ vacuuming/ dusting), washing, ironing, shopping (food/groceries), gardening, handiwork, cooking for children and caring for pets.

Character:

Raluca describes herself as calm, neat and tidy, polite, sociable, and hard working. She considers herself a strong person and doesn’t think she will have problems adapting to life in the UK.

Eating:

Raluca eats pretty much everything – she doesn’t have a favorite food and couldn’t think of anything that she doesn’t like.

Driving:

Raluca has not passed her driving test.

Family:

She has her own apartment in Alba Iulia and lives there alone. Her Mum is 52 years old and is retired; her Father is 55 years old and is a woodsman.
