Basic Information:

Oana is a 25 year-old Romanian girl from Craiova, a city in the southern part of Romania. She moved to live with her grandmother 5 years ago so she could study at university where she lives. She graduated from the faculty of geography, studying geography and English. She has a teaching qualification so can teach English if necessary.

She wants to be an au pair because she wants to improve her life and to be able to have her own family in the future. She has a friend who was an au pair in Scotland and who has recommended that she should try it.

Oana enjoys travelling (especially to the mountains), dancing and reading. She describes herself as an active person: she goes to the gym once or twice a week and also plays volleyball.

She is a non smoker.

Childcare Experience:

Oana has helped to look after both her brother who is 9 years younger and her cousin who is 13 years younger than Oana. Her Grandmother was in charge of the house and she looked after the children. She helped them with their homework, played with them and sometimes cooked for them. She worked for a Turkish family for 4 years and helped them with everything around the house (including childcare). When she started she had to look after their girl (8 years old) and the boy (10 years old). She cooked for them, cleaned their house, took care of the children (took them to the swimming pool, helped them with their homework). She quit because she had to work many hours and didn’t have enough time for herself.

English Skills:

Oana’s English is good. She has studied it for 17 years.

Oana is prepared to care for children and older children, to undertake light housework (tidying/ vacuuming/ dusting), laundry, cooking for children and for the family, shopping (Food, Groceries), gardening and caring for pets. Oana can cook lots of different things.

Eating Preferences:

Oana eats anything and is not a fussy eater. Her previous boss was Arabian and she really enjoyed lots of new dishes.

Family:

She lives in a large old house in Craiova with her grandmother. She has a dog and a cat living with them too. Oana’s cousin who is 12 has stayed most of the time her grandmother and Oana since he was born. Her cousin’s mother is a veterinary surgeon and due to work it is the best arrangements. Her mother lives 100km and works as an engineer. Her brother is 16 years old and lives with his mother. Her parents are divorced and her father is in Spain and the family haven’t seen him for 15 years.
