Nona C - 25 years old

Basic Information:

Nona is a 25 year-old girl from Craiova, Romanian. She graduated from the University of Food Industry in 2009. She had several part time jobs during her studies, but since she graduated, she is unemployed

She wants to be an au pair because she likes children and thinks that she has a childish personality. Her cousin has been an au pair for almost 3 years and she wants to be an au pair too. She wants to see England too and to get to know a different culture.

Nona likes walking, drawing & painting, going to the cinema and socialising with friends. She also likes practising different sports like: cycling, table tennis, running, horse riding, volleyball and badminton.

She smokes daily, but wants to quit by the time she will arrive to the UK. She thinks cigarettes are too expensive here and she doesn’t want to spend so much money on them. She agreed not to smoke in front of the children or inside.

Childcare Experience:

Nona looked after several children. She has many friends, relatives and neighbours who have children and she always volunteered to look after them. She usually looked after children aged between 2 and 13 years old. She looked after a friend’s child – he is 10 years old now. When his parents were busy, she used to look after him, take/pick him up from school, play with him and put him to bed if his parents were late. She also looked after a 3 year-old boy. His parents are Nona’s friends. She had to prepare meals for him, built different puzzles with him, watched cartoons with him, etc. She has no preferences about location and would like to be an au pair for at least one year.

English Skills:

Her English is very good, she has studied it for 10 years.

Housework:

Nona is prepared to undertake light housework (tidying/ vacuuming/ dusting), shopping (Food, Groceries), care for babies, children or older children, washing, ironing, driving, looking for pets and cooking for children.

Character:

Nona considers that she is sociable, friendly, active, funny, responsible and easy adaptable.

Eating:

Nona likes eating most foods. She doesn’t like food that is too spicy, but is willing to try new type of food.

Driving:

Nona passed her driving test in May 2004. She drives daily her father’s car, a Daewoo Cielo. She thinks she won’t have problems getting used to drive in the UK.

Family:

She lives with her Mother and Father. Her Mum is 50 years old and is a housewife; her Father is 52 years old and is retired; her brother is 28 years old and is married.
