Marcela M - 26 years

Basic Information:

Marcela is 26 year-old Romanian girl from Drobeta Turnu Severin, a town on the Danube's shore. She graduated this year from the University of Craiova, Faculty of English and Spanish. During her studies, she lived with her aunt and uncle. She is unemployed, but attends 2 classes (HR and accountancy).

She would like to be an au pair in UK because she worked here (in Northampton) for 4 years (between 2003 and 2007). She liked England and still has many friends. She always wanted to come back and live here. She thinks that being an au pair is a good opportunity to improve her English and to get a new start. She also worked last summer in Greece as a bartender in a hotel.

Marcela likes all outdoor activities; she is active and likes practising different sports like: cycling, gym, running and walking. She also likes reading, socialising with friends and travelling.

She smokes, but accepts not to smoke in front of the children or in the house.

Childcare Experience:

Marcela looked for 2 years of a 4 year-old boy. She did this during the summer holidays and during the weekends when she went home. In Northampton she lived with a Romanian couple; because Mum had to work and they had a newly born, Marcela offered to stay with the child for some hours. Even though she was a little scared at the beginning, she got used to feeding and bathing the baby, etc. During University, she also had 2 weeks practice in 2 high schools where she had to teach children English and Spanish. She has a teaching diploma and would like, in time, to work as an English teacher. She has no preferences regarding children's age.

Language Skills:

I found her English to be advanced. She also speaks Spanish (advanced) and Greek (beginner).

Housework:

Marcela is prepared to care for children or older children, shopping (Food, Groceries), light housework, washing, ironing, cooking for children and driving.

Character:

Marcela considers that she is independent, ambitious, friendly, responsible and hard working. She likes helping people and fulfilling her duties perfectly.

Eating Habits:

She tries to eat as healthy as possible; she doesn't like eating fast food and very spicy food.

Driving:

Marcela obtained her driving license in 2007 and drives a few times a year. She likes driving, but she doesn't have a car and that's why she doesn't drive more often. She would like 2 or 3 hours with a driving instructor - just to explain to her the differences between driving in Romania and in England.

Family:

Marcela's parents divorced some years ago and she lives only with her Mum. Her father re-married, but has always been close to Marcela. She has a 24-year old brother who works in a bank in Bucharest.
