Lavinia S - 19 years old    

Basic Information:

Lavinia is a 19 year-old Romanian girl from the city of Oradea. She studies fashion design at art school and finishes in July. She wants to continue with Fashion Design. Last year she worked for 3 months in as a quality inspector checking TV modems for export. She has always wanted to come to England since learning the language.

Lavinia can be placed from the middle of July after finishing school. If she enjoys her placement she would like to stay for a gap year.

She enjoys going out with her friends - driving cars, (she loves driving), drawing and fashion design. She enjoys traditional dancing and took a course. If she gets the opportunity she would like to go camping at the weekends - previously her parents wouldn't allow her to do this as they are quite strict.

She enjoys playing guitar (also teaching), dancing - traditional and society dance (when younger she entered competitions across Romania), going on trips & camping with friends in the mountains. She is a non-smoker.

Childcare Experience:

Lavinia had experience last year in 2009 when she worked as a volunteer in a kindergarten where she engaged in different activities with children with a variety of sight and hearing disabilities. This was to encourage the children to interact and give them an opportunity to form other relationships. Five girls from her class would go twice a week or more from October 2009 until February 2010 and spend two or three hours with the children. She has three cousins - two girls (3 and 13) and a boy, ranging from 9 years. She would spend one or two weeks in the summer holidays staying at her cousins playing together. When their parents were away then Lavinia would prepare them meals and take care of them. She has other friends who call on Lavinia to look after their children if they have to work overtime.

Language Skills:

Her English is very good. She is chatty and talks about everything easily. She speaks a little French and Spanish at a basic level.

Housework:

Lavinia is prepared to undertake light housework (tidying /vacuuming /dusting), shopping (Food, Groceries), washing, ironing, cooking for children & the family, gardening, handiwork and caring for pets. At weekends she often goes to her Grandmother's house and helps around the house (her family are renovating it). If she stays by herself at weekends she likes to cook and experiment with new recipes.

Character:

Lavinia thinks she is communicative, funny and can give good advice. She would say her worst quality is that she used to be a little naive but she has learnt some good lessons in life.

Eating Habits:

Lavinia enjoys eating natural food like fish, eggs, milk, rice. She avoids eating sweets. She only drinks tea and water (no coffee and alcohol). She also avoids fatty meats like lamb, pork & fast food.

Driving:

Lavinia passed her driving test in July, 2009. She drives her Dad's car, a Ford Focus Combi every weekend. She likes to drive to relax and also goes out with her friends in the week and drives their cars.

Family:

She lives at home in a flat with her parents and her 15 year old brother. Her Father is a truck driver and her Mother works in a factory.
