Ionela is a 22 year-old Romanian girl from Oradea, a city in the western part of Romania. She graduated from the University of Sociology (2009). She worked for 6 months as a sales agent by phone, but now she is unemployed.

She wants to be an au pair because she has experience with children and thinks that this will give her new opportunities. She wants to know new people and to try to make a Masters degree after improving her English.

AIonela likes being active. She likes playing basketball, table tennis, running and going out for a walk. She also enjoys cooking.

She is a non smoker.

Childcare Experience:

She had some practice hours with children aged between 11-18 years old. She did this for her University. She taught them different subjects for 3 or 4 hours a day. She also looked after her niece because his brother’s wife left the family and the little girl (3 years and 8 months ago). Since then, she helped her brother looking after his daughter. Because he had to work extra hours, Ionela was like a mom for the girl. She had to cook for her, take her to the kindergarten, wash her – everything that one has to do when they are looking after a child. Her sister recently gave birth to a girl and Ionela helps her looking after the girl. When her sister has to go somewhere or has to clean the house, Ionela is always looking after the girl. She also looked after some neighbour’s children: one family has 2 girls (4 and 1 and a half year) and the other family has a boy (4 years old). She looks after them when their parents are away.

English Skills:

Ionela’s English is good, but she would like to improve it by working as an au pair.

Her native language is Romanian. She also speaks French (medium) and Italian (advanced).

Housework:

Ionela is prepared to care for babies ,children and disabled children, to undertake light housework (tidying/ vacuuming/ dusting), ironing, shopping (food/groceries), cooking for children and caring for pets.
