Diana is a 29 year-old Romanian girl from Timisoara (in Timis county) in the western part of Romania. She is the only child, but she would have liked to have had brothers or sisters. She is a Law graduate, but never practiced. She has always been working in sales for financial institutions.

She wants to be an au pair because she likes children and wants to live in a different culture. She also wants to try living on her own and being more independent. She wants to take the opportunity to spend time in the UK to work and have a new experience.

Diana enjoys reading, listening to music, socialising with friends, watching TV and spending time outdoors, painting and cooking. She also likes going to the theatre.

She is a non-smoker.

Childcare Experience:

Diana has some experience with children while she was in Syria and also in Romania, helping other members of her family with their children (she has nephews and enjoys spending time with them and taking care of them). She lived in Syria for several months, helping her friends with their children. On this occasion she has also learned some Arabic. She believes children are pure, original and opened to communication and learning new things. She likes things to be organized and seems very meticulous.

Language Skills:

Diana has studied English until high school and she considers herself basic. At the interview I found it to be fair as she understood nearly all my questions first time and was able to express herself reasonably well in simple sentences. She is just a little scared to start speaking in English, but once she starts she will be fine. Her native language is Romanian, but she also speaks a little Arabic.

Housework:

Diana is prepared to undertake light housework (tidying/ vacuuming/ dusting), laundry, cooking for children, care for children and older children. She would like a family with children above the age of 3 years.

Character:

Diana considers that she is very organized, neat & tidy, sociable, hard working, disciplined and with initiative. During the interview she showed the capability of understanding and empathizing with people and especially children. I understood that she really wants a new experience of life and seems very anxious to start it.

Eating Habits:

Diana eats a balanced diet and will adapt easily to what the family eats. She likes all types of food, but is allergic to eggs.

Driving:

Diana has taken her driving test in December 1998 and has a lot of driving experience, even abroad.

Family:

She lives in a large village house with her Father who works in a factory and her Mother who is a housewife. She has no other siblings, except for her extended family. They have pets (rabbits and a dog) and she loves animals. She has always been living with her parents.
