Dana D - 26 years old

Basic Information:

Daniela (Dana) is a 26 year-old Romanian girl from Bacau. She graduated from the University of Economics in Timisoara. She moved to Bucuresti after she finished her University and worked as a librarian for 6 months. She had to quit because she went to Chisinau and helped her brother looking after his children. She is currently unemployed.

She wants to be an au pair because she likes children, has experience with them and thinks it will be a good opportunity for her. She wants to get to know the English culture and to see what is different to the Romanian one. She wants to be an au pair for one year or longer.

Dana enjoys reading, walking and taking picture. She likes taking pictures when she goes somewhere. She likes travelling (one-day trip or during the weekend) and she usually goes to the seaside and to the mountains.

She is a non-smoker.

Childcare Experience:

Dana helped his brother to bring up his children. Her brother and his wife were working and they needed someone they can trust to look after their children. She looked after her niece (2 months) and her nephew (2 years). She did this from September 2008 until September 2009. This position was more like a full time job as a nanny as she had to look after the kids all day long, to cook and clean the house. She looked after the baby and after her nephew and tried to teach him Romanian.

English Skills:

Dana's English was good. She was able to express most of her ideas, but sometimes she needed help with the translation.

Her native language is Romanian. She also speaks French.

Housework:

Dana is prepared to care for children and undertake light housework (tidying/ vacuuming/ dusting), laundry & ironing, shopping (food/groceries), cooking for children and for the family, driving and caring for pets.

Character:

Dana describes herself as intelligent, modest, sociable, funny, neat and tidy, talkative, caring, responsible and hard working. She likes to be organized and very clean.

Eating Preferences:

Dana likes cooking Romanian and oriental food and wants to try different other types of food. She doesn't like pasta.

Driving:

Dana passed her driving test in January 2008 and drives daily in Bucuresti. She drives a Matiz.

Family:

Her parents live in Bacau. They are both retired. Her Father was an accountant and her Mum was a housekeeper. She has 2 brothers. One of them lives in Chisinau and the other one is in Spain. She lives in Bucuresti with her aunt.
