Adriana R - 25 years

Basic Information:

Adriana is 25 year-old Romanian girl from Arad, a city in the west of Romania. She will soon obtain her Masters degree from the University of Vrije, Amsterdam, Holland, being specialised in Social Science in Netherlands. She lived in Holland for the last 2 years, but now she is back home for a while and is looking for a job.

She would like to be an au pair in UK because her goal is to be an English teacher one day, so this would be a great opportunity to improve her language skills. She is also curious and interested in other cultures and the way people live. She thinks that being an au pair will offer her the opportunity to work with children and to register later as a teacher. She would like to be an au pair for one year.

Adriana likes skiing and snowboarding, jogging and going to gym. She also likes to do handmade cards, custom-made and handmade staff. She enjoys socialising with friends, photography, reading and going to the theatre and cinema.

She is a non smoker.

Childcare Experience:

Adriana worked as a translator and a leader in summer camps between 2001 and 2008. Here she worked with children under 18 years old and organised different activities for them. She was also a member of an American organisation who organised Vocation Bile School for one week every summer. She worked as a private English teacher for children aged between 10 to 14 years old. She worked as a volunteer for a children's orphanage in Arad between 2007 and 2008 and 2009 and 2010. She has also been taking care of her younger sisters because her parents were busy all the time. Last year when she was in Netherlands she also took care of a 2 year-old girl from a Romanian family who lived there. She looked after her for 2 months (April to May 2009). Now she lives in Arad and takes care of her very good friend's daughters (one of them is 5 and the other one is 7), whenever they want to go out just by themselves.

Language Skills:

We found her English to be advanced. She also speaks French (Intermediate) and Portuguese (she's more fluent than in French).

Housework:

Adriana is prepared to care for children or older children, shopping (Food, Groceries), light housework, washing, ironing, cooking for children, gardening, handiwork, driving and caring for pets. She would feel more comfortable taking care of children above 3 years because she sometimes has problems in understanding what they want, if they are younger.

Character:

Adriana considers that she is well-organized, neat and tidy, meticulous and sociable. She would like her to be more outspoken sometimes; she tends to put herself second place and it's difficult for her to refuse people even if what they ask interferes with her schedule.

Eating Habits:

She eats almost everything with the exception of eggs, because she is allergic. She likes Asian and Indian food and she wouldn't mind trying other types of food than the one that she usually eats in her country.

Driving:

Adriana obtained her driving license 7 years ago, but she has been driving only for a year. She would like to drive in the UK.

Family:

Adriana comes from a Christian family and has 2 younger sisters (one of them is 23 and the other one is 19). Her parents got divorced about 10 years ago. Her father (51 years old) works in a factory in Arad. Her mother (50 years old) lives in Chicago where she works as a social worker for elderly people. Her sisters live with their mother in Chicago; one of them studies at the Medical School and the youngest one has graduated from high school recently.
